City of Duncan Sewer Study
Press release follows:
The City of Duncan has contracted Tetra Tech Inc., Consulting Engineers to perform an evaluation of the sanitary sewer system in a portion of the City of Duncan. The evaluation is being performed to identify inflow and infiltration (I/I) or other sanitary sewer collection system conditions which contribute to heavy wet weather flows and/or collection system overflows. The project involves the inspection of 800 manholes and smoke testing of approximately 200,000 feet of sewer line.
The boundary of this project area is from W Elk Ave on the north, to Martin Luther Jr. on the south, between N 21st on the west and N "D" Street on the east.
Beginning January 15, 2018 crews with Tetra Tech will be traveling throughout the city, accessing manholes in alleys, streets and backyards and lifting manhole lids to perform the manhole inspections. Tetra Tech crews are uniformed and their vehicles have Tetra Tech logos on them. This phase is expected to continue for approximately four months.
Additional phases of the sanitary sewer evaluation will follow after manhole inspections are complete and notification will be made prior to subsequent testing.
The goal of this project is to identify defects for rehabilitation that will reduce the ammount of storm water that gets into the sanitary sewer system causing the sanitary sewer system to overload during rain storms. As you observe these crews working throughout your neighborhood, remember that they are there helping your community to improve your sanitary sewer service and making your city a better place to live.
